No Vacancy

I had a little lol moment to myself earlier today when I was working on this pic, just because it’s such a huge contrast compared to the one I made yesterday. And ok, it’s not my normal style but it’s fun to dress up when something like World Goth Fair hits the grid!

The skin I’m wearing is new Jalwa and can be found at the Goth Fair, along with the eyeshadow layer. It comes in the usual tones but also includes a vamp and goth shade (I’m wearing goth) which are just perfect for that dark look. Also includes hands and feet appliers for the SLink attachments!

The top I’m wearing is new from Baiastice and can be found at The Boutique. It comes in lots of different summery colours as well but of course I’m wearing black for this style. It’s a halter neck with ties at the back and I might have to blog it again at some point to show that off because it’s really very striking. The bangles I’m wearing I picked up at Teefy last week for Fifty Linden Friday, but they’re usually still in store now, just a bit higher in price.

The head piece is something I picked up by Glam Affair at The Dressing Room forever ago, seriously about a year ago, but just hadn’t had a chance to wear yet. I do this a lot, buy things when they’re cheap just in case I need it one day and low and behold, today was that day!

I’m still wearing Ikon’s new Vanity eyes, I absolutely love them! The variety in colours that Ikon provides is easily the best on the grid for me, everything from super realistic to fantasy so you’re never at a loss!

Oh and the hair, it’s an old style from Elikatira which I’ve worn a couple of over the last few weeks and lamented about how sad I was that they were closed, but I recently found out that actually the store is still open with all the hairs at the sale price! I have no idea why or how long that’ll be for but if you missed the sale then now is a great chance to grab those hairs!

Told You

Told You

I’m going to be disappearing off into the magical world of RL for a few days, but I didn’t wanna go before I showed you guys this cute new denim top from Drift! There are several belt options available, I’m wearing the brown here just coz neutrals are my thing the majority of the time. The plunging neckline gives a nice dose of cleavage, but I was trying for a more modest country girl look so I paired it with this lacey top from Nylon Outfitters. I added the new Baiastice necklace from FaMESHed to top it off!

Just a quick note about this picture, I’d say I take about 75-80% of my blog pics at in world locations and sometimes when the mood takes me I’ll take a green screen studio shot and edit in a background. That was my plan for today but as I had almost finished editing my avatar and was thinking about what kind of background to use (honestly, I really had no idea, I tend to make these things up as I go along!) I remembered a place in world that would’ve been perfect, the Post main store. So I kicked myself coz I coulda just taken it there, but I decided to go over there anyway, snap a pic and then edit it in as the background! Obviously I like doing things the long way round but I think I might even start taking some stock background shots in SL and using them for when I’m making this kind of pic.

Oh and! I know it’s kinda naughty of me to wear hair that’s not available anymore, but I love this one and I’m legitimately sad that Elikatira is gone :(

Introducing Sonam from Jalwa

Introducing Sonam from Jalwa

Most people know that Chandra Masala is the creator behind Bilo, well now Chandra has created a new brand for her skin range called Jalwa and her first release under this brand name is the Sonam skin. These skins are only available on the marketplace for the moment, you can find them here, and I definitely recommend trying them out!

Now I’m one of those people who will wear the same skin and/or brand for months and months. Even though I like to mix up the style of my outfits, skins are a tough one for me because if it’s too different from what I’m used to then it doesn’t feel like “me”. Having said that, taking and editing so many pictures of myself can take it’s toll and there are many days I’ll just feel like “Oh, it’s that face again.”

This Sonam skin would be much too big of a change for me personally to make it my every day skin, but will I mix it up for taking pictures and blogging? Most definitely! I love the tones on these skins, there are other brands in world that I keep trying out but always end up feeling like they have too much red in them or are too desaturated so that they look greyish. In my opinion, Chandra nailed it with the skin tones.

The above picture was obviously edited for the sake of making pretty, since that’s my favourite part of blogging, and I’m wearing layers for freckles etc. But here’s some snaps of the au natural variety so that you can see a couple of tones, it actually has 5 tones but I couldn’t do all of them today because time is short for me on a Friday!

Sonam Tones

The blonde and red eyebrows are quite dark, that won’t be a problem for me personally, I’ve mentioned before that I always like darker brows never mind what colour hair I’m wearing, but I know some people do prefer the fairer look when they’re going for blonde or red. I think that the body could do with a little more work on the texturing but the face seems spot on to me and I wasn’t a fan of the cleavage option, I felt like it needed some more shading or something (idk, I’m not a skin maker but it needed something), then again I can’t remember the last time I wore a cleavage version so that won’t stop me from wearing them.

The skins also have the matching appliers for the SLink mesh hands and feet which are amaaaaazing! I really do like this first release and love the face. The progress Chandra has made in her work is incredible to me, I can’t wait to see more Jalwa releases in the future!

Anyway that’s me done for the week, I’ll be back soooooon,

Amberly & Maitreya

Amberly Photo Contest - Entry 01 - Coral Lacey

If you’re a fan of Glam Affair you will no doubt have heard about the photo competition they are currently running for their popular Amberly skin line. There are some great prizes up for grabs which you can find with the rules and how to enter on the Glam Affair blog here. Amberly became my everyday skin as soon as it was released so I couldn’t resist the chance to enter, if nothing else it’s great practice for editing pics!

So while I was tearing my hair out about what to wear for the picture (not literally but can’t lie, I was stressed lol) Maitreya put out some amaaaazebulous (just made that up) pieces. This Dakota dress that I’m wearing also comes in just a top version as well as having lots of different shades and print options. I got a couple of different versions but since I’m loving classic black a lot lately, I went with that.

Amberly and Maitreya

To accessorize I added the new Isabella earrings which you can find by LaGyo at the March round of Collabor88 that started on Friday and the bracelet from Maxi Gossamer is there too! Both of these pieces are the usual high quality mesh and other matching accessories are available. I finished the look with the Zanzi clutch that House of Fox released for The Arcade Gacha event!

Only a few more days left for the Amberly competition so make sure you get in soon if you haven’t already and good luck to all who enter!

All Coming Back To Me Now

All Coming Back To Me Now

Is everyone sick of seeing these headpieces from Glam Affair all over Flickr and the feeds? Well I’m not and if you are I’m sorry, but they are just far tooooo pretty for me to pass up snapping a picture with! If you didn’t know (ha, joker I am) you can grab them at this month’s round of Collabor88!

Just like everyone else I get super excited when a new Maitreya release hits the grid, but when I first saw the ads for this latest my initial thought was ehhhhhh, do I really need more dresses and fancy clothes? I don’t usually even bother demoing Maitreya but I did this time and it turns out that apparently I need ALL THE FANCY CLOTHES!

Really, as soon as I put them on I knew I was gonna buy and 30 seconds later there was that familiar little jingle of coins topping up my L balance and a bunch of new stuff in my inventory.

All Coming Back To Me Now Full

In this picture I’m wearing the Mignon evening dress, which is a version of the Mignon dress that Maitreya released in the summer. There are a ton of colours to choose from, choosing was almost impossible for me actually and in the end I just decided that classic black was always a winner. The way the mesh and textures are created really are perfection and it seems as though the dress is hugging your curves in all the right places, but at the same time desperately close to melting away. Overall it’s a very understated but sexy little number.

I also couldn’t resist the new Shiki platforms! I really wasn’t going to buy them since they are kinda similar to the Suave wedges that came out a couple of months ago but then I noticed…that the HUD had 30 different platform textures you could choose from! So that pretty much made my mind up for me.

Finally for today, just in case you didn’t know (I’m so behind in announcing this stuff today but it’s always worth giving a reminder!) Elikatira are having a 70% off sale on her ENTIRE stock of hair. It runs until the 23rd of Feb and after that every single item she has now will be discontinued as she aims to reopen in a few months with lots of new! So make sure you go and grab the styles you like since this is your last chance.

Happy weekend all!

Stroll Through Autumn

There were some great new releases over the last few days so I thought I’d put some of them together for my autumn look today.

This mesh sweater from The Secret Store is just about perfect. It comes in a couple of different plain colours or with a pattern as well. I decided to go for plain so that I could mix and match it easier and I think I’m gonna get a lot of wear out of this top this season. It’s an item that you can easily style different, bare legs and boots or leggings or jeans, so many different options. I decided to put it together with the G Field floral leggings/tights because I’ve been admiring them for a while.

I’ve also got on these new mesh boots from Glam Affair. Again this is an item that I’ll wear a lot and they can easily be dressed up or down and, they’re unisex! I can’t wait to see what styles some of the guys can come up with wearing these.

I’ve also got a few accessories on from The Arcade Gacha event and this only has a couple more weeks to run so make sure you get over there and grab them before it’s too late!

I took this picture at Izzie’s mainstore which is all done up for autumn and perfect if you want to capture a shot filled with those warm orange and yellow hues.

Hope you all have a good weekend, I’ll see you on (C88) Monday!

FLF Goodies and a Zebra

Just a quick snap to show you a couple of new goodies! First of all my favourites from this weeks FLF, these cute mesh glasses from Ison and this cropped tank from Tulip! Both of these stores are quickly becoming firm favourites for me and it always gets me excited when I see them on the FLF list, I can’t wait to see more new items from them both.

Now on to my zebra. I’ve written recently about Korundi, which is a new mesh jewellery store by Shansa Resident. During a conversation with her yesterday, I mentioned how there were a lot of panda and owl jewellery pendants etc around in SL, but no zebras! I showed her a picture of a ring with a zebra head on it that I have in real life (yes, I have a thing for -fun- jewellery, it’s my mother’s fault) and said I’d love to see something similar in SL. Well a mere 3 hours later, a zebra head ring was dropped in to my inventory and I let out a big squee! So today Shansa made a full set, the zebra ring, this necklace that I’m wearing and some matching earrings, all mesh and only 149Ls for the set! You can find Korundi jewellery on the marketplace here, lots of new things are being added almost daily so keep checking back!

Introducing Korundi

Hi guys! It’s been a few days I know, but I’m back and with some great information for you!

This post is to tell you about some new mesh jewellery coming from a new store called Korundi. Korundi is the baby of Shansa Resident (aka Cherry Sautereau). Cherry has dabbled in making things for a couple of years now, and has an existing store selling fantasy clothing, but recently she began to play with mesh and for a total of just 7 days now, she’s been making mesh jewellery and is now making it available for all!

At the moment Korundi has a limited inventory, which you can find on the marketplace here but Shansa is working hard to grow and is currently turning out new items every 1-2 days. I think for a one week old jewellery designer she is showing tremendous potential and I am excited to see what new styles are to come.

Korundi offers a range to suit most tastes, with both classic and contemporary styles and as we know anything mesh is hot right now, which can usually lead to high prices but Korundi are aiming to hit a sweet n low price point so that everyone can afford mesh accessories. All the items are non rigged mesh so you can edit them to fit if needed, but you still get the great high def look that we’re coming to expect from mesh products.

This store and designer is definitely one to keep your eye out for, and I’m looking forward to seeing their growth, so don’t forget to keep checking out the marketplace for their items and hopefully it won’t be long before they have an in world presence too!

Some Days

Some days, you don’t want to get up. You don’t want to get up, or get dressed, or fix your hair. But you force yourself to at least put on those comfy pants and that oversized cardigan and pull your hair back into some semblance of a style and you sit. You sit and wish that the world would stop turning and it feels like it should, because how can you go on after this? If it would all just stop, then it wouldn’t have happened and you wouldn’t have to face it. But it doesn’t, it has and you do.

I was wearing most of this outfit for a few days, partly because it was system layers and I wanted to be in those for demoing at Vintage Fair but mostly because I just felt like it. Then Toki Doki released this Apathetic Cardigan and it was just perfect to go with. I love the cable knit texture and the colours it’s available in are all soft and comfortable. I don’t know if you can describe a colour as comfortable but I just did. This cardigan is a must buy for those every day looks.

On a side note, I believe that the Toki Doki group is now back open for people to join. There is a 250L joining fee but Maya has already put out a group gift a couple of days ago. If you’re not in it, make sure you join so that you don’t miss out!

Maybe tomorrow I’ll feel like getting dressed.

Vintage Fair 2012: Preview 2

More new stuff from Vintage Fair, yay!

This super cute mesh outfit is from DDL, it comes in 4 soft colours (green as shown, pink, blue and beige) and is only 200Ls! I feel a bit like the quiet little librarian who when she gets home, shakes out her hair and takes off her…to reveal…you know what I mean, we’ve all seen those movies!

I’ve paired it with another new release from ChaChaDee! This time 70s style heels which come in lots of shades and with a really well made reptile or leather texture.

Finally this pose is by Adorkable as part of the GoGo set. I love their poses because they’re always that little bit different from your standard ones and Adorkable have LOTS of great poses released for the fair, I’ll definitely try to show a few more of those.

Hope you like!
