Pin Up

There have been so many great new releases the last few days it was hard for me to know where to start. So I mixed a bunch of things up for this post!

First of all these new jeans were released by Tulip. There’s two versions, your regular blue and grey shades as well as coloured versions. I’m wearing the blush shade here and I love them! They’re a great staple item for your SL wardrobe.

The Liason Collaborative started a new round of The Boutique today and I can’t tell you how beyond excited I was to see these Spring Fling sandals from LVLE. They come in several summery shades and are made to fit with the SLink bare mesh feet. I love that more creators are starting to make shoes around them and I hope that it opens up the market to other designers who might have great shoe ideas but don’t want the hassle of making the feet too. Especially now that we have the appliers for the SLink feet, just adding a pair of shoes over them is the perfect solution to all my skin matching woes! Anyway I love these sandals and I’ll defintely be sporting them a lot this spring/summer!

Yesterday Truth released SIX new hair styles for us to spend our Ls on, there are new colour packs available so make sure you grab a demo for those as well! Truth also started a model search competition that will run until the 1st of June. You can read all the rules and info on the prizes here in the competition Flickr group. I love this retro style Sadie hair so I decided to do something of a pin up style entry.

Isis

I wore part of this jewellery set yesterday in a post but I love it so much that I thought it deserved a close up too!

It’s called the Isis Solar Magic set, by Maxi Gossamer at C88. The set comes with lots of different length necklaces, so you can mix and match combo’s, for this picture I just decided to wear them all! It includes a matching pair of earrings and you get both the gold and silver versions in the set. Like lots of Maxi jewellery the stones are scripted to colour change, the possibilities are endless!

I’m also wearing Truth’s first mesh clothing, this bustier that you can find at FaMESHed. I’m excited that he’s started to make clothing and hopefully we’ll see more in the future! I topped it off with the new Lelutka Adile hair and switched my skin to Jalwa’s Sonam, for a more exotic look.

Finally my last piece of new is the Vanity eyes from Ikon, they’re so dreamy!

Spring Showers

Look at me, two posts in one day! I needed to make up for my absence so I figured why not.

I love days like this, where it’s warm outside but it starts to rain, I call this “sexy rain” when you can umm, sit, outside on your balcony in your summer clothes and just you know….listen to the rain fall.

Anyway, I mixed up a bunch of new releases for this outfit. The top is actually the new dress from Drift, but I decided to wear it as more of a sweater with the new jeans from Tutti Frutti. I love the soft knit texture on the dress, it’s perfect for spring days, and the cloud texture for the jeans is just that little bit different to make them stand out.

I added the new Isis Solar Magic necklace from Maxi Gossamer that was released at Collabor88 today. I’m absolutely in love with it, the design is so unique and it has lots of colour change options as well as coming in both gold and silver. The umbrella I picked up at C88 too, which was one of Yummy’s offerings for this round. The little neck scarf I’m wearing is from Baiastice and you can find it FaMESHed, it’s a great little accessory that you can mix and match with lots of outfits.

Yes, I’m still wearing the new Scarlet hair from Lelutka that was in my post earlier today coz well, I really like it!

At The Lake House

How much do I love this new Cindy dress from Gizza, let me count the ways! Seriously, it’s a great little number. The mesh will give you curves to die for and it comes in denim or checked prints. I could probably wear this for the next month quite happily! I won’t though coz yanno, well, yanno.

I took this picture at Editorial Clarity’s Lake House, which he opened for 2 days. This ends tomorrow so make sure you check it out! Editorial is another one of those highly talented decorators in SL, I love following his stream and probably add every picture he takes to my favourites!

French Kissing (and the Why Do I Blog Meme)

Harper from Pixel Pantomime and I got together for this post and had a bit of an 80s thang goin’ on (hence the post title, love me some Blondie!)

Firstly I wanna talk about these new shoes from Baiastice. They are absolutely everything I want in a pair of shoes, cute, quirky and versatile. There’s an array of colours to choose from, as well as either a patent or snake pattern and the socks, o.m.g the socks. I have a little bit of an obsession for shoes with socks lately and I just don’t think there’s enough of them on the grid. They come with a HUD to change sock colour that has a few different patterns including plain, dotty and zebra.

I’m also wearing the new skirt and top from Emery that’s available at My Attic! Each of these are only 95Ls so you can easily treat yourself to a couple of colours! They’re both fantastic quality as Emery always is and for the price they’re easily my best buy this week. The necklace and earrings I’m wearing are a set by Maxi Gossamer at Collabor88 and are colour change like many of her pieces.

My glasses are by Adjunct at this months Mens Dept and the cuff I’m wearing is new from Inside Lab at SL Fashion Week! Both great accessories that I can easily wear with multiple outfits to create different looks. I decided to do Berry’s latest meme today as well, so bear with me while I ramble on a bit more!

1. How long have you been blogging? Since February 2012.

2. Why did you start blogging? As I started to spend less time in RP sims and discover the rest of SL, I began to play around with creating different looks and taking pictures. After a couple of months I decided I might as well share them on a blog instead of just looking at the pictures myself.

3. How many times a week do you post an entry? Varies, I try to do 3-4 but sometimes I might only do 2.

4. How many different blogs do you read on a regular basis? Hmm maybe 30? Pretty much all SL related. I used to read RL ones a long time ago but now my net browsing time is mostly taken up by looking at Flickr, SL Blogs or Tickld.

5. Do you comment on other people’s blogs? I am sooo guilty of not doing this enough and I really should do it more. Maybe this will light a fire under my ass now.

6. Do you keep track of how many visitors you’ve had? Yep I do!

7. Did you ever regret a post you wrote? I don’t think so, but I definitely look back at some of my earlier ones and think about how I could’ve improved the pics etc.

8. Do you think your readers have a true sense of who you are based on your blog? Hmm, not really. They definitely see a real side of me that loves shopping and dressing up and sometimes I try to put a bit of my humour into things, but I like to think there’s a lot more to me than omg I love this skirt/shoes/hair!

9. Do you blog under your real name? Nope, all SL for me.

10. Are there topics you would never blog about? Yes, RL things and things like religion or politics, because that’s entirely not the point of this blog.

11. What is the theme/topic of your blog? SL Fashion and shopping.

12. Do you have more than one blog? Nope just this one. I did have a Live Journal yeaaaaars ago, when I was about 17, and it was your typical teenage stuff “ohhh I like this boy, but then this boy kissed me and now idk what to do!”

13. What have you found to be the benefits of blogging? Meeting new people and making friends through Flickr and Plurk in the same community (still finding my feet with Plurk if I’m honest, always too self concious!) improving my PS skills and just generally having a hobby I love that I can spend my time on.

14. So why do you continue to blog? Coz I like it! When it stops being fun then I’ll stop doing it.

Introducing Sonam from Jalwa

Most people know that Chandra Masala is the creator behind Bilo, well now Chandra has created a new brand for her skin range called Jalwa and her first release under this brand name is the Sonam skin. These skins are only available on the marketplace for the moment, you can find them here, and I definitely recommend trying them out!

Now I’m one of those people who will wear the same skin and/or brand for months and months. Even though I like to mix up the style of my outfits, skins are a tough one for me because if it’s too different from what I’m used to then it doesn’t feel like “me”. Having said that, taking and editing so many pictures of myself can take it’s toll and there are many days I’ll just feel like “Oh, it’s that face again.”

This Sonam skin would be much too big of a change for me personally to make it my every day skin, but will I mix it up for taking pictures and blogging? Most definitely! I love the tones on these skins, there are other brands in world that I keep trying out but always end up feeling like they have too much red in them or are too desaturated so that they look greyish. In my opinion, Chandra nailed it with the skin tones.

The above picture was obviously edited for the sake of making pretty, since that’s my favourite part of blogging, and I’m wearing layers for freckles etc. But here’s some snaps of the au natural variety so that you can see a couple of tones, it actually has 5 tones but I couldn’t do all of them today because time is short for me on a Friday!

The blonde and red eyebrows are quite dark, that won’t be a problem for me personally, I’ve mentioned before that I always like darker brows never mind what colour hair I’m wearing, but I know some people do prefer the fairer look when they’re going for blonde or red. I think that the body could do with a little more work on the texturing but the face seems spot on to me and I wasn’t a fan of the cleavage option, I felt like it needed some more shading or something (idk, I’m not a skin maker but it needed something), then again I can’t remember the last time I wore a cleavage version so that won’t stop me from wearing them.

The skins also have the matching appliers for the SLink mesh hands and feet which are amaaaaazing! I really do like this first release and love the face. The progress Chandra has made in her work is incredible to me, I can’t wait to see more Jalwa releases in the future!

Letting It Go

Hiiii people, just a quickie post today before I vanish for the weekend, but I wanted to show you a couple of new things.

First this top from Tulip which you can grab today for Fifty Linden Friday, it’s so soft and floaty and perfect for the light spring season. I’m also wearing another new release from Drift which are these capris. I really like that Drift makes regular releases rather than waiting a month or 2 before releasing a small collection. Don’t get me wrong I like that too but yanno, I’m impatient and I like to have stuff right this minute. Also before you think I PS’d the heck out of the pants, I didn’t. They are already heavily shaded, which is great for taking pics because it saves a lot of edit time. Just like Kalli’s recent releases they come with a colour change HUD, so lots of options for a bargain price.

I got this belt a few days ago at Le Poppycock’s 50L spring sale, they have a few belts there that come with 4 different coloured straps for each buckle. Make sure you check out their sale as they have lots of cute little bits and pieces which are great for adding to outfits.

I gotta say too, this hat with the hair is obviously a release from Maitreya last year but I love it so much, I really hope we start to see more similar items from other hair creators as the warmer seasons kick in, there just aren’t enough of these on the grid imo!

Take Three (and the SL Pet Peeves Meme)

It took me three shoots to get a picture I was happy with for this post, I’ve been feeling a bit off for a couple of days, I’m pretty sure it was having time off for Easter, kinda lost the roll I was on. I hope it’s back now anyway.

I’m wearing a few new things in this picture. First this loose ponytail that Truth released over the weekend, I love it’s relaxed, natural style. Perfect for the beach! Also the cute, cute new bandeau top from Drift. There are a couple of different styles available, I’m wearing the plain jersey print version, and both come with a colour change HUD so you can switch them up, even the knot is colour change too! I love that Drift is giving this option lately with their releases, it’s really good value for money that you’re getting so many different colours and/or prints with a single purchase. Now I just need some matching bottoms for this top and I’ve got a perfect little bikini! *wink wink, nudge nudge*

Mon Tissu also released their first collection for 2013 this week and these shorts were my favourite. I love the belt detail and the little slits on the front, it really gives them something extra and makes them just that bit different. There are tons of prints and colours to choose from as well.

Finally, the necklace I’m wearing is from Maxi Gossamer at this months round of FaMESHed. I love her boho pieces and this one is no different, beautiful detailing as always, the stone is texture change and the chain comes in both gold and silver.

So Berry started a new meme the other day, it’s basically some of your SL Pet Peeves. Since I enjoyed her others I thought I’d take part again. Do I need to put a disclaimer that these are only peeves of mine, and not to be taken personally? Well I’m gonna, and that was it.

1. Out of date welcome/orientation areas. Last year I spent a fair bit of time hanging out at this kind of place that’s aimed at new residents, trying to help them and offer advice etc. I think a lot of it fell on deaf ears so I pretty much gave up after a few futile months, but mostly what got me was how bad these places looked and the quality of freebies offered. I wondered if I joined SL today and landed in one of them would I stick around? Back in 2006 it was acceptable, but why are they still stuck in 2006 when the rest of SL has made such vast improvements? I always tell my friends that if I ever could afford my own sim I’d make a really nice welcome area for noobs and I’d beg beg beg some good designers to donate a freebie or two. Seriously though, if anyone reading this has the funds to do it and would like to, let me know because I would loooooooove to help!

2. Weird characters/fonts and numbers in names. Ok this is gonna make me sound judgey and I’m sorry but if you have your dob or your age or something after your username, or your display name is full of strange characters/in a weird font, I just can’t take you seriously. I’m not going to be rude or ignore you or anything, but I’m not gonna make a first move in talking to you, and to be brutally honest I’m gonna struggle to make conversation more than a few sentences because all I’ll see are the numbers or some name I can’t make sense of. I do have a couple of friends on my list that use the fonts (just to prove I’m not totally a bitch lol) but I do tease them about it and I think they’re pretty aware that it’s a peeve of mine.

3. Limited groups/tattoo layers/alpha layers. I think this speaks for itself, and yes I know we’re lucky that they’ve already been increased but I’m a woman dammit and I’m never satisfied, I need more!

4. Bad store layouts. If I go to a store and can’t find the item I just saw on Flickr/plurk/a blog within a minute or two then I’m probably going to give up and not buy it at all. I like new releases to be slapped in my face the moment I walk in, I like the store to be sectioned, jewellery over here, bags and shoes here etc etc. I feel exactly the same in RL.

5. TP fails Ever tried to make a dramatic exit and your tp fails? Ohhhh that’s so awkward!! Say you’re in the middle of an argument and you wanna do the SL equivalent of storming out and slamming the door but instead your screen goes black for a second and then you’re back there, just hovering and they’re looking at you, probably laughing at you and you’re like kdjasxmmkdfasnc SL gimme a break!! Even if I’m at some crowded place and I just said bye to everyone and then can’t leave, ugh, I’ve said before that I’m extremely self concious and sometimes when this has happened I want the virtual ground to open up and swallow me whole.

I’ve really enjoyed reading other people’s peeves and agreed with a lot of them, I could really have gone on a rant about things people do that annoy me but I wanted to make it more about SL rather than people so that it didn’t just descend into a bitch fest, coz that’s what my best friends ear is for

Spending G’s

As soon as I saw this fab new “Pimpin Hat” (yes that’s really it’s name) from Drift, I couldn’t get this song outta my head. So I thought I’d bring a lil Jay-Z all up in here. My so called bff asked me why I was so hood when I said that to her earlier

Anyway, the hat. It’s definitely a great statement piece and comes with a HUD that has 15 different colours to choose from, so easy to mix and match it to any outfit. Not that I’m wearing much of an outfit!

The collar I picked up at March’s Collabor88 round by Fashionably Dead. I got the white tintable version, for obvious reasons, which meant I could match it perfectly with my hat! The bracelets are by Maxi Gossamer at Limited Bazar, I haven’t been back to check but Maxi usually sells out pretty quick at that event, I wouldn’t panic if you want some and there aren’t any left as they usually go on sale in the main store once the round is over.

Amberly & Maitreya

If you’re a fan of Glam Affair you will no doubt have heard about the photo competition they are currently running for their popular Amberly skin line. There are some great prizes up for grabs which you can find with the rules and how to enter on the Glam Affair blog here. Amberly became my everyday skin as soon as it was released so I couldn’t resist the chance to enter, if nothing else it’s great practice for editing pics!

So while I was tearing my hair out about what to wear for the picture (not literally but can’t lie, I was stressed lol) Maitreya put out some amaaaazebulous (just made that up) pieces. This Dakota dress that I’m wearing also comes in just a top version as well as having lots of different shades and print options. I got a couple of different versions but since I’m loving classic black a lot lately, I went with that.

To accessorize I added the new Isabella earrings which you can find by LaGyo at the March round of Collabor88 that started on Friday and the bracelet from Maxi Gossamer is there too! Both of these pieces are the usual high quality mesh and other matching accessories are available. I finished the look with the Zanzi clutch that House of Fox released for The Arcade Gacha event!
