Poppins in Paris

First of all, I would like to say that this picture has absolutely nothing to do with Mary Poppins. A couple of weeks ago Harper joked that I should be her nanny, and then Coral Poppins was born. It was meant to be my display name for a week but it’s lingering….sighs…so ok, I did think that this outfit had a bit of a Parisian feel about it, and I took the picture at the Cupcake sim so it fitted.

Also (sorry about this waffling) I know it’s a bit of a summery/spring look and I’m seeing tons of beautiful autumn and now winter themed pictures popping up on other blogs and Flickr, but where I live in RL it’s still bright and sunny, a little bit of a chill in the air but a light cardigan or jacket is all you need and you can still sit outside and enjoy a meal. So I just can’t take winter seriously right now.

The top is by The Secret Store and is out for sale at FaMeshed, or if you follow Lazy Sunday you could’ve picked it up for 70Ls at their store a couple of days ago. It’s completely cute and tucked to fit well with high waisted mesh items.

The skirt is an old group gift from Fanatik. However, you CAN still get your hands on it. This skirt and one of their mesh dresses is on display at the mainstore, all you need to do is join the group for 100Ls to get them both!

I’m wearing the new Cyanne mesh hair from Truth as well. Accessorising can really make a difference to a look or an outfit, and this hair makes it that little bit easier with the scarf already attached. There is a colour change HUD for the scarf so you can easily mix and match it with different outfits. I wish more hair styles came with accessories like this and I’m looking forward to seeing what others come up this season.

Vintage Fair Preview 3 – ColdLogic!

ColdLogic is one of the sponsors at this years Vintage Fair and they are also participating with their new designs. This mesh dress is one of several that they’re releasing at the fair, and like with most ColdLogic designs there is another version to this one, with different textures and colours.

I love everything about this dress, this colour especially. The mesh is not shaped to make my bust look like I have a couple of watermelons stuffed up there, but still gives me a nice round curve on my uh, butt.

Also new out at the fair in this picture is the necklace from DDL and this fun pose from Sparrowtree Studios.

Boho Bride

I know that the last few days I’ve been a bit slack with my postings, but I had a good reason! You see…I went and did the virtual wedding thing. Woah…what?! Mhm that’s right. Almost 6 years in SL now and I’d never done this whole bit before, but then I’m doing a lot of things lately that I never would have thought that I’d do, or enjoy as much as I am.

Neither of us wanted the big, extravagant wedding that we’d been guests at before so instead we went with just us and our daughter who was the bridesmaid come minister (yes I said minister, she even got herself ordained online!), found a pretty little sim and just said a few words.

I spent several hours over the last few days getting my outfit together because I didn’t want to do the typical formal, flexi gown. Formal is just not really me. I definitely wanted mesh but there are not many mesh bridal gowns around yet, so I shopped around, brought several dresses and changed my mind till I decided on this maxi skirt from Tram. Then I did the same with tops, I bought a couple and in different colours too, before finally choosing this one from Decoy. The style of this top was perfect for what I wanted, although I wish there was a little more something to the texture, maybe a slightly transparent layer on top or something, but then I can’t have it all and I was happy enough with the style.

The hair is from Fashionably Dead at Hair Fair and again I love the style. The loose, natural waves are just perfect, I don’t happen to think that the rigging is the best around, since it would stick into me during certain poses but the textures and mesh itself are well created. A little bit of it did end up sticking through the frill on the top, but I liked it so much that I decided to live with that, but I have edited it a bit for the pictures.

I’ve mentioned the man before in a couple of posts and it was probably about time that I posted a picture so today is appropriate.  We went over to Neva River and snapped a couple of shots in our outfits today and here we are! All hitched and stuff.

I’m really trying not to get all gushy on here but I just wanna say…thank you Khal. You make me happy.

Old World at the Beach

I’ve interrupted my little flow of Culture Shock and C88 releases to bring you something new.

I’m willing to bet that the majority of people reading this have never heard of Old World by Katrina Kristen, mainly because it’s a role play / medieval store. I stopped regularly role playing a few months ago now, but I kept in the loop with what products were being released and I was pleased to see some more mesh finding it’s way there over the last few weeks.

I always liked Old World for my role play clothes, they’re well made without being too fussy and having a million prim attachments, then I saw this release and I knew I had to have it, not because I wanted it especially for role play but because it’s perfect for mainstream too. As soon as I saw the ad for this outfit I thought, ok, I need that for the beach!

The outfit comes with the mesh top and skirt, both of which are separates so can easily be mixed and matched. They’re in standard sizing and fit very nicely. You also get the bangles I’m wearing here and the skirt comes in not just one lovely print, but two. That’s right, TWO different skirt patterns. I’m wearing it in beige since I’m a neutrals lover, but it’s available in pink and bluey-green-turquoise sets as well.

So lets just have a review of what you get here. A gorgeous mesh top and skirt, with 2 different skirt types and a set of pretty stacked bangles. How much do you think you’d pay for that? In mainstream I know you’d probably pay 150 – 200Ls for the top alone. Well this entire set is for sale at….190Ls. I happen to think that is incredible value for money and that this outfit is a must buy for anyone who plans to spend time at the beach this summer!

I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes peeled for anything else that comes from a role play store that could be used in mainstream from now on!
