Don’t Forget!

I don’t usually make a point of blogging sales or reminders about events ending, because frankly there are a lot of people who do this better than I can and there are so many events and things now that I find it kinda stressful trying to keep up! I’m much more of a LOTD, blog what I like, when I like kinda gal but I thought it would be remiss of me not to mention these.

First of all don’t forget to visit the Truth hair sale! Colour packs are reduced to 75Ls, fatpacks to 750Ls and some packs which will be retired are reduced even lower! I’ve pictured a few of my favourite recent styles above.

Also FaMESHed closes tomorrow while they set up for a new round that will open on the 1st of May, so if you haven’t been yet or forgot to pick up something before today is your last opportunity! I’m showing the Penny boots from LaRoo here which definitely have an edge to them. They’re available in lots of colours but best of all if you buy the fatpack you get all those colours in a HUD, so you’re not adding tons of extra items to your inventory!

Who wears short shorts? We wear short shorts!

Just a quick post today coz I wanted to show you these new boy shorts that Drift released this week. They come in 3 different textures, satin, leather and jersey knit with colour change HUDs for multiple options! I love their low slung cheekiness, perfect for a skate along the boardwalk or to slip on over a bikini while you’re sunning it up.

She’s Just A Girl

Happy Monday peoples!

I had a nice relaxing weekend and a great afternoon catching up with all the new things today, so I got a few to show you!

First Lamb released a couple of new hairs, as usual they’re similar with slight variations, which I love because if one doesn’t suit my face shape the other normally does. But one of my favourite things about Lamb hair is their ombre and roots pack. I love the contrast of the light blondes with the really dark roots, this always works well for me coz I prefer to wear skin with dark eyebrows even when I’m wearing light hair and so the roots are a nice touch, to make me look like even more of a bottle blonde

Baiastice had a nice spring/summer release and while this top would look great with shorts on the beach, I decided to match it with the new Villena high waist jeans for more of a rock chick look. The top comes in a few different colours and in either a studs or pinstripe option.

TDR Fusion kicked off a new round on Friday with lots of great, cheap goodies so I’m wearing the new sunglasses I picked up there by Swallow. The fab little owl bracelet I’m wearing is by Erratic and was their FLF item but you can usually still pick these things up in the store after, albeit for a lil bit more dollar. The chunky chains I’m wearing are Glow Studio for C88 and come with matching bracelets too!

Now a bit about the tattoo I’m wearing. As you know it’s been impossible to create single sleeve tats in SL due to the system layer pattern only having one sleeve, so it would always make two identical ones. But with mesh it can be done! I admit I’ve been sceptical about mesh tattoos so far, I bought one once without demoing and I hated it, it didn’t fit at all.

I’m super fussy about any tattoo’s I wear in SL, I never want to wear “heavy” ones, or ones that aren’t feminine enough and this is always a problem if you’re ever trying to buy sleeves. Also I like to have half sleeves since I got my mesh hands, otherwise the tattoo gets faded out with the hands blend layer and it just looks all kinds of wrong. ANYWAY, today I was browsing the marketplace again for tattoos, which I seem to do a lot, when I came across this one by B*Fly. There wasn’t a demo which put me off right away, but it did have a 5 star review so I just thought ok, I’mma do it! Well I wasn’t disappointed. It comes in 5 different sizes, with sleeves for both left and right arm, so you can pick which side you want to wear it. It also has a regular tattoo layer that goes over your shoulder and helps to blend it in. The sizes are -perfect- it fits so snugly against your shape that you wouldn’t even know it was a mesh layer. The only issue I had was that in certain poses when my shoulder was twisted or at a different angle to normal, the mesh kinda disappeared into the top of my shoulder. But it was only a little bit and only in certain poses so definitely not enough to put me off buying more, or being extremely happy with this one.

Anyway, that was much more long winded than I intended to make it so I’ll leave it there for now!

Hiii guys, just thought I’d get a quick Friday post in before I sign off for the weekend!

I’m not gonna lie to you, I totally bought this hair after I saw it on Danni Ravinelli’s blog, Forsaken, a few days ago. She’s one of my favourite bloggers and I always love her style so when I saw this hair do from a store called Pollen I had to check it out. I’d never heard of Pollen until then and when I looked into it in world, I found the creator and that she has a marketplace store for mesh hair here. She only has 2 styles at present and the colour packs are pretty basic, just a brunette, reds, blondes and black and whites, but you get 8 different shades in each. The demo also came with 4 colours options and I found the brunette, red and black texture good but I was not a fan of the blonde. It seemed really quite yellow, although this was only one shade so I don’t know how the others will look since there isn’t a complete colour sample pack. I decided to just stick with brunette since I didn’t want to take a chance just to see if I liked the other blondes better. This is the Giselle style and non rigged mesh so easy to edit. Overall I love this hair style and will definitely be keeping a look out for Pollen’s future releases!

Emery’s latest release hit the grid yesterday and I’m featuring a couple of them. The Carrie sweater and the Samantha bag! I adore both of these and for some reason even more so since they’re named after Sex in the City characters, there was also a Charlotte skirt which is adorable but nothing for poor Miranda

Maitreya brought us their Autumn ankle boots a couple of days ago too with a special colour block pack at a reduced price for VIP group members. This group is FREE to join so I have no idea why you wouldn’t already be in it and you get the set of 3 boots for half the normal price. 500Ls for 3 pairs of Maitreya boots? Yes please! They were also really great colours as well, this beige colour, oxblood and a dark grey which is almost black. Make sure you take advantage of this promo because it’s only on for a limited time!

Remember I mentioned the Erratic 50% off sale yesterday? Well I’m also wearing a couple more items I picked up there too. The shorts and tights are both half price and while I like these shorts a lot and had considered buying them before, I’d decided that I didn’t really need more denim shorts. Well it turned out in fact that I needed 3 more pairs when they were half price.

This ^ and the Maitreya group pack is a classic example for me of how discounts and events with reduced prices boost sales. If it’s cheap or reduced, I’m gonna buy one, maybe 2 or 3 (ok sometimes 4) even if I don’t need it and I’m gonna buy it right then and there, just because it’s cheap. If an item is full price and I’m not gushing in love with it, if I don’t need it right at that moment, if I already have similar items in my inventory or it was more than I’d expect to pay, then it becomes a considered purchase for me and there’s probably a 95% chance that I’m just not going to buy it at all. But something cheap that I don’t need, love and have 5 different versions of already? I’m gonna jump all over that, coz I never know when it’ll come in handy! I’m happy at the end of it because I feel like I got a great bargain and the creator probably ends up with more money from me coz I’ll buy at least 2 colours/versions as opposed to buying one or none at all. Pretty much win/win really.

SL DisneyBound – Week 2 – Ariel “Kiss The Girl”

O.m.g. you guys, I am having sooooo much fun with this challenge! I mean seriously I’m at the point where I’m starting to wonder if it’s healthy for a grown woman to be getting so excited about dressing up as Disney characters…and it’s only week 2! But who cares, it’s fun and I’m enjoying it, that’s the name of the game right??

Anyway this weeks character was Ariel in the “kiss the girl” scene. You can read the original challenge info at Style Minions and this weeks information on their post here, where Natalee clarified the rules a little. Basically that it’s not just anyone from the Disney movie, it’s the actual character that is picked that you’re meant to portray and this week it’s even narrowed down further to her outfit in a specific scene. So no need to don your mermaid tails!

Last week I did the challenge entirely with items already in my inventory but this week I did buy a couple of pieces. The belt and skirt I picked up both from Erratic in their 50% off sale, I love sales! Make sure you get over and take advantage of this one, it’s well worth it and I spent entirely too much money there last night buying all the things. I loved this giant mesh bow that I got from Ingenue for FLF a couple of weeks ago but had nothing to wear it with till now and this Brianna hair in cranberry from Truth that I already had was a perfect fit.

Dare You To Let Me Be

Happy Hump Day people! Hope everyone is enjoying their Wednesday. First of all I was listening to this song by Adele earlier on today which was where the post title came from, I don’t mind admitting I’m a big fan of hers.

Anyway I got so much stuff to talk about in this post so I’ll try to keep each bit brief coz I know I have a tendency to ramble.

I was dressing up quite a lot lately, but as soon as the sun started shining and the seasons changing, I just want to run around the grid barefoot in tanks and shorts all the time. If I only had to buy one tank top this season then this Hangover Tank from Drift would be it. I’ll tell you why. There are 3 options you can buy it in, linen gauze, and a couple of different knitted versions. Each version comes with FIFTEEN different colour options on a very easy to use HUD. Not only that but the ruffles at the bottom of the top are a separate piece so you can wear it with or without and they have their own HUD too, so you can have different colour ruffles to the rest of the top. The combinations are endless and such a bargain for 225Ls.

I’m also wearing the Surfer Rosa hair from Clawtooth that you can find at The Arcade’s Gacha event, which is still going on for a bit. I actually bought this one at a yard sale to make sure I got the colour I wanted, I’m a cheater like that. The belt is the Rockabilly Birds belt by Sweet Leonard and was their item for Lazy Sunday a couple of days, but I’m pretty sure you could still pick it up in their store even though it might be a bit more expensive than the Lazy Sunday price. She also has lots of other matching accessories for it too.

I usually wear eyes that are a lot lighter than the ones in this picture, but since I was doing a different look these seemed to go pretty well. They were the group gift from Ikon for March. Are you a member of Ikon’s group? If not then I recommend it coz you get a free gift at the start of every month and the group is free to join! I love Ikon’s eyes so getting a new set every month is exciting!

I look a lot different in this picture mainly because I finally took the plunge and bought the new Zara skin from Glam Affair. This skin is currently only available exclusively at The Skin Fair on sim 2. Overall it’s really well made, as you’d expect form Glam Affair, and I think it’s a lot different to previous ones they’ve released. There are plenty of different make ups to choose from and some metallic eye shadows which are just amazing, but of course I got a more natural looking version (02) because I knew I’d wear that most. I’m not sure if it will replace Amberly for me, which has been my every day skin since it was released because there are a couple of features that I liked better on Amberly, like the lips and eyebrows. But that’s just personal preference and I’ll probably get used to it the more I wear it. You still get the clean version as well which actually I normally wear more than the ones with make up.

Now I don’t usually wear teeth. I’ve tried. I’ve bought tattoo layers, prim teeth, mesh teeth but they never look right to me because I always feel like too much of my top lip disappears. But today when I was fussing with the skin, adding bits and pieces, tweaking my shape etc, I found the Izzie’s tattoo teeth set I had and they fit this skin perfectly. I like the Izzie’s teeth because it doesn’t show too much. All I want is a hint of teeth, not a great big set of gnashers sticking out. The only thing about them is that I wish they weren’t so gappy. Other than that I think they look good with this skin!

Finally I took this picture at the gorgeous Neva River sim, which Neva Crystall has opened to the public for the next few days. I felt like a bit of a stalker taking a picture outside her house lol, but it’s a really beautiful place and I’ll definitely be returning for more photo ops. There were so many events last week that today when I felt like I wanted to blog something but didn’t want to spend any money I was in a quandry. Sure, my “to blog” folder has a ton of stuff in it, but nothing that inspired me much to put a complete outfit together. I was talking to my ol’ buddy Harper and she reminded me about the new challenge that we’d both already decided we had to do. I wailed a bit that I didn’t have anything green to put a Peter Pan look together and that would mean that I’d have to go out and buy something, but she told me to just type green in my inventory search. So I started to do that, still complaining that I knew for a fact that I didn’t have any pants/shorts/skirts in green…and then, well it turns out that I did.

So this was a bit of a double challenge for me, I put this whole look together with things I already had in my inventory and had forgotten about. The only new item is this Teddy hair from Truth that was released a couple of days ago and I hadn’t blogged yet, but it was pretty damn perfect!

Anyway, this turned out to be a lot of fun and I’ll definitely be taking part again, not sure if I’ll do it weekly but at some point I will!

By the time I actually post this it will more than likely be just after midnight on Thursday for me, but let’s just pretend it’s still Wednesday, k? K.

I’ve got a few recent releases here that I wanted to share. Most were released over the last couple of weeks and I kept an eye on them till I found the whole outfit that I wanted to put together.

First I’ve got the new military jacket that was released by Chemistry. Lots of colours available and you get a couple of different styles with each. I’m wearing the hip length, collared version but you also get a longer length and both of those without the collar too. I love that Chemistry tends to give these options with their clothes as you feel like you’re getting real value for money. At only 250Ls this is one of the best buys for jackets that I’ve seen lately.

The loose fit denim shorts are a new mesh release from Gizza. They have a lovely little leather belt detail and the shorts are cut so that the pockets hang a little lower than the denim, making them that little bit different from others that are available elsewhere. These will be a great addition to your virtual wardrobe for not only this season, when you can pair them with tights or leggings, but the upcoming warming ones too!

The mesh top I’m wearing under the jacket is the city shirt from Drift. I won’t say that this was easy to layer with the coat, because it wasn’t. I wore the L in the coat and the XS in the top but still in certain poses some of the shirt would poke through on the arms, which was a bit annoying and I confess that I fixed it a bit in photoshop! It’s definitely doable but the fit won’t be perfect if you want to wear that shirt with the jacket – make sure you demo them together before you buy if that’s what you want to do, so that you won’t be disappointed!

I am so in love with this Lavinia hairstyle that Truth released over the weekend. Braids are mah thang yo, and this do is so cute without making me look like I’m trying to impersonate a teen. Really love, love!

Little Black Skirt

First of all, I hope everyone had a merry Christmas and a happy new year! I’ve been really busy over the holidays but I finally got around to my first post of 2013!

January has always been the worst month of the year for me, it seems like pay day can never come quick enough. After the huge blow out I generally have in December, January is my frugal time. After the first couple of weeks of sales, it’s also when you start to see new collections arriving in stores so you can begin to build up a spring wardrobe.

Now if you’re budget savvy like I try to be, then you’ll want to pick up some staple items. Staple items are pieces that you can mix and match to get completely different looks from, as well as getting your money’s worth and wearing them often. So for this post I decided to show you a staple item I picked up recently and 3 different ways to wear it.

Fanatik has quickly risen up my list of favourite stores with their releases over the past couple of months and this micro mini is no exception. I bought it at the Frost event a couple of weeks ago but only got around to blogging it now, however I think since I did buy it, I’ve barely taken it off. It’s available in several colours and with the variety of ways you can dress it up or down, fatpacking would not be a hard decision to make. It’s pretty simple in it’s style, but I love the quality of Fanatik’s mesh and textures and it also has a cute little zip detail on the back which gives it that extra bit of realism. The length was important to me too, I have some other mini’s that were just a tiny bit too long for what I wanted and the market is also flooded with ones that basically put your ass cheeks on display. I wanted something in between and this skirt was it.

I’m wearing a few other new(ish) items as well, that were released over Christmas and New Year. A couple of recent hair styles by Truth, the one with the scarf also includes a colour change hud so it’s great to match with many outfits. I have a thing for hair with attachments like that so this is an easy favourite.

The leather jacket from Erratic on the left is very nicely made and comes with both open and closed options. It’s not the kind of thing that is easy to layer with other mesh tops but most mesh jackets aren’t, which is why I still grab layer tops now and then.

House of Fox had a sale for a few days and I’m sorry that I didn’t get to blog this before because I am wearing several of their items that I picked up there while they were reduced. If you want information on sales and things make sure you check out Seraphim SL as they almost always have the latest info on what’s going on where. Anyway, House of Fox, yea, lots of good things.

Finally LaRoo released these fab Liberty boots for FaMESHed, that I’m wearing on the left a few days ago. Lots of colours available and they come in 3 different sizes, I usually wear a M in mesh clothes but the S in the boots fits me just fine. These are definitely my favourite of LaRoo’s releases and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Also I just wanted to point out there there was -very- little editing on these pictures compared to some of my others, apart from smoothing out some angular edges so everything I’m wearing should look the same in world, although always make sure to demo!

Hopefully I’ll be back to more of a regular blogging schedule now but I’m still visiting family and using a different PC so I’m not sure how fab my pics will be till I get home in a month or so. Anyway, I’m so looking forward to seeing what great items will be brought to us for the new season!

What A Weekend

The last few days have been eventful with new releases, events and hunts. It’s hard to know where to start, so I decided today that I’d pick one of my favourites from each and put together a look.

First of all I’m wearing the new Amberly skin from Glam Affair. There had been some teasers over the last few weeks for this skin but I’ve got to say it was well worth the wait. It’s one of those skins that not only do I love, but I feel like myself in. This is definitely a new favourite for me and easily has become my new every day skin. I particularly love that Glam Affair always includes a clean version now, since I do like a more fresh faced look most of the time and this gives me exactly that.

The hair I’m wearing is new from Tableau Vivant at The Arcade Gacha event that kicked off on Saturday, you can find all the SLURLS and items available on their Tumblr here. I must admit I didn’t expect to like this hair as much as I do and I certainly didn’t expect that it’d make me wanna go blonde. But I do and it did. It’s rigged mesh and comes in both male and female versions as well as a ton of colours which you can try and collect for just 50Ls a play!

FaMESHed also started a new round on Saturday and this daring dress from Fanatik was one of my favourite items. The mesh is shaped to give perfect curves and the spikes add some sass and come with a HUD so you can change them to either gold or silver.

Finally The With Love hunt brought to us by Chic Management started on Friday. You can find all the hints and SLURLS on Chic’s page here. There are tons of awesome items that you can pick up all for 10Ls and this tattoo I’m wearing is the item that’s available at Aitui.

Right now I need to get back to trying to organise my inventory, since this gacha event has caused me one helluva mess! Hope you all have a good week.
