French Kissing (and the Why Do I Blog Meme)

Harper from Pixel Pantomime and I got together for this post and had a bit of an 80s thang goin’ on (hence the post title, love me some Blondie!)

Firstly I wanna talk about these new shoes from Baiastice. They are absolutely everything I want in a pair of shoes, cute, quirky and versatile. There’s an array of colours to choose from, as well as either a patent or snake pattern and the socks, o.m.g the socks. I have a little bit of an obsession for shoes with socks lately and I just don’t think there’s enough of them on the grid. They come with a HUD to change sock colour that has a few different patterns including plain, dotty and zebra.

I’m also wearing the new skirt and top from Emery that’s available at My Attic! Each of these are only 95Ls so you can easily treat yourself to a couple of colours! They’re both fantastic quality as Emery always is and for the price they’re easily my best buy this week. The necklace and earrings I’m wearing are a set by Maxi Gossamer at Collabor88 and are colour change like many of her pieces.

My glasses are by Adjunct at this months Mens Dept and the cuff I’m wearing is new from Inside Lab at SL Fashion Week! Both great accessories that I can easily wear with multiple outfits to create different looks. I decided to do Berry’s latest meme today as well, so bear with me while I ramble on a bit more!

1. How long have you been blogging? Since February 2012.

2. Why did you start blogging? As I started to spend less time in RP sims and discover the rest of SL, I began to play around with creating different looks and taking pictures. After a couple of months I decided I might as well share them on a blog instead of just looking at the pictures myself.

3. How many times a week do you post an entry? Varies, I try to do 3-4 but sometimes I might only do 2.

4. How many different blogs do you read on a regular basis? Hmm maybe 30? Pretty much all SL related. I used to read RL ones a long time ago but now my net browsing time is mostly taken up by looking at Flickr, SL Blogs or Tickld.

5. Do you comment on other people’s blogs? I am sooo guilty of not doing this enough and I really should do it more. Maybe this will light a fire under my ass now.

6. Do you keep track of how many visitors you’ve had? Yep I do!

7. Did you ever regret a post you wrote? I don’t think so, but I definitely look back at some of my earlier ones and think about how I could’ve improved the pics etc.

8. Do you think your readers have a true sense of who you are based on your blog? Hmm, not really. They definitely see a real side of me that loves shopping and dressing up and sometimes I try to put a bit of my humour into things, but I like to think there’s a lot more to me than omg I love this skirt/shoes/hair!

9. Do you blog under your real name? Nope, all SL for me.

10. Are there topics you would never blog about? Yes, RL things and things like religion or politics, because that’s entirely not the point of this blog.

11. What is the theme/topic of your blog? SL Fashion and shopping.

12. Do you have more than one blog? Nope just this one. I did have a Live Journal yeaaaaars ago, when I was about 17, and it was your typical teenage stuff “ohhh I like this boy, but then this boy kissed me and now idk what to do!”

13. What have you found to be the benefits of blogging? Meeting new people and making friends through Flickr and Plurk in the same community (still finding my feet with Plurk if I’m honest, always too self concious!) improving my PS skills and just generally having a hobby I love that I can spend my time on.

14. So why do you continue to blog? Coz I like it! When it stops being fun then I’ll stop doing it.

Letting It Go

Hiiii people, just a quickie post today before I vanish for the weekend, but I wanted to show you a couple of new things.

First this top from Tulip which you can grab today for Fifty Linden Friday, it’s so soft and floaty and perfect for the light spring season. I’m also wearing another new release from Drift which are these capris. I really like that Drift makes regular releases rather than waiting a month or 2 before releasing a small collection. Don’t get me wrong I like that too but yanno, I’m impatient and I like to have stuff right this minute. Also before you think I PS’d the heck out of the pants, I didn’t. They are already heavily shaded, which is great for taking pics because it saves a lot of edit time. Just like Kalli’s recent releases they come with a colour change HUD, so lots of options for a bargain price.

I got this belt a few days ago at Le Poppycock’s 50L spring sale, they have a few belts there that come with 4 different coloured straps for each buckle. Make sure you check out their sale as they have lots of cute little bits and pieces which are great for adding to outfits.

I gotta say too, this hat with the hair is obviously a release from Maitreya last year but I love it so much, I really hope we start to see more similar items from other hair creators as the warmer seasons kick in, there just aren’t enough of these on the grid imo!

I Knew

I’ve been wearing this new dress from Emery at My Attic for 3 days straight now. I should probably get changed but I am so in love with it. It’s only 95Ls and comes in a variety of colours, so for that price you can easily get an assortment! I’ve been wearing a lot of black lately though so for this picture I just stuck with that.

Also adore this new Nydia hair that Truth released yesterday. I love the contrast of a really light blonde or white with all the black I’m wearing so that’s what I did!

Finally, a couple of posts ago I wrote about old group gifts that you might have and hadn’t taken advantage of yet and it reminded me of this Petal edition of Glam Affair’s Amberly that I hadn’t worn, so I added that too!

There was a shoe frenzy this weekend, after Maitreya released the Shiki platforms on Friday, Gos followed up with the Gos Boutique range and 4 amazing designs for us ladies. I seriously felt spoilt for choice but from the new Gos shoes, these Sophia peeptoes are definitely my favourite.

I think most people will agree that matching the skin on any mesh body part to your actual skin is a complete pita. Well not with the new Gos shoes! When you wear the HUD a pop up appears asking if you want to go to the website, I pasted that address to my browser where I was automatically shown logged in. On the website there is just about every popular skin designer you can imagine, plus all the tones pre programmed. I simply clicked Glam Affair, America then the sync button on the HUD and the exact match for that skin appeared! One click and bam, instant match! It really doesn’t come any easier than this and I’ll be crossing my fingers and toes that this will be something other creators pick up on!

Another of Maitreya’s new releases on Friday was this little leather skirt and I added the new mesh shirt and cropped sweater from Coco which is really adorable. Oh and new Truth hair! This lovely Laurie style has a ponytail at the back and some loose bangs that frame your face perfectly.

It wasn’t until I put this outfit on that I realised how skinny my avatar has been getting lately. I tend to just change my body shape (body fat and muscle) depending on the outfit I’m wearing which doesn’t bother me at all. But when I had to slim down my legs again so that I could fit into the XS skirt to layer with the M top was when it really hit me. I think I’ve been slimming down and forgetting to ever go back up again so I’m gonna have to write a note to myself about that! Do you ever change your avie shape just for certain outfits? Or would you rather not buy unless the item fits perfectly?

All Coming Back To Me Now

Is everyone sick of seeing these headpieces from Glam Affair all over Flickr and the feeds? Well I’m not and if you are I’m sorry, but they are just far tooooo pretty for me to pass up snapping a picture with! If you didn’t know (ha, joker I am) you can grab them at this month’s round of Collabor88!

Just like everyone else I get super excited when a new Maitreya release hits the grid, but when I first saw the ads for this latest my initial thought was ehhhhhh, do I really need more dresses and fancy clothes? I don’t usually even bother demoing Maitreya but I did this time and it turns out that apparently I need ALL THE FANCY CLOTHES!

Really, as soon as I put them on I knew I was gonna buy and 30 seconds later there was that familiar little jingle of coins topping up my L balance and a bunch of new stuff in my inventory.

In this picture I’m wearing the Mignon evening dress, which is a version of the Mignon dress that Maitreya released in the summer. There are a ton of colours to choose from, choosing was almost impossible for me actually and in the end I just decided that classic black was always a winner. The way the mesh and textures are created really are perfection and it seems as though the dress is hugging your curves in all the right places, but at the same time desperately close to melting away. Overall it’s a very understated but sexy little number.

I also couldn’t resist the new Shiki platforms! I really wasn’t going to buy them since they are kinda similar to the Suave wedges that came out a couple of months ago but then I noticed…that the HUD had 30 different platform textures you could choose from! So that pretty much made my mind up for me.

Finally for today, just in case you didn’t know (I’m so behind in announcing this stuff today but it’s always worth giving a reminder!) Collabor88 Bloggers Comp

If you read my blog a lot then you’ll know that I’m a huge fan of C88. So when they announced a few weeks ago that they were holding a competition to find a new blogger I couldn’t resist entering. Plus I’ve decided that I quite like competitions because they really push me to try out new things and be more creative. Oh and I just wanted to say…these bird cages I used? I’m so in love with them. Kitten

Real life has been keeping me busy at weekends lately, but it’s a nice treat to get in world at the start of the week and find some new releases that were out while I was gone.

These boots are the new release from Leverocci and I love them. They’re the kind of thing you could wear with almost any outfit to add instant sexiness and I’m never gonna complain about a bit of help in that department! So these boots were my favourite of the Leverocci releases, but they also introduced a sub brand called Belgravia which you really should check out, they have the most gorgeous mesh fur (relax people, it’s only pixels) coat which I think will find it’s way in to my inventory very shortly.

Anyway I put together the boots with some other pieces that are recent (not new) but that I hadn’t gotten around to blogging yet. I’ve been wearing this mesh tank from Emery to death over the last couple of weeks or so, along with the Melinda mesh necklace from Korundi and I love the leather leggings that Tres Blah released for C88. I resisted buying mesh leather pants until these were released, but then I’m always a sucker for Tres Blah stuff.

The hairband is by LaGyo and you can find it at the latest round of TDR, it’s scripted to colour change like most LaGyo items these days, so easy to pair it up with outfits. Also love this mesh hair from Lamb! The messy, natural look is totally my thing and it’s made a nice change from all the updos I’ve been wearing lately.

I’ll try not to be so slack with my postings again, but look, I did redo the look of my blog yesterday! Hope you like it, I do!

Boho Bride

I know that the last few days I’ve been a bit slack with my postings, but I had a good reason! You see…I went and did the virtual wedding thing. Woah…what?! Mhm that’s right. Almost 6 years in SL now and I’d never done this whole bit before, but then I’m doing a lot of things lately that I never would have thought that I’d do, or enjoy as much as I am.

Neither of us wanted the big, extravagant wedding that we’d been guests at before so instead we went with just us and our daughter who was the bridesmaid come minister (yes I said minister, she even got herself ordained online!), found a pretty little sim and just said a few words.

I spent several hours over the last few days getting my outfit together because I didn’t want to do the typical formal, flexi gown. Formal is just not really me. I definitely wanted mesh but there are not many mesh bridal gowns around yet, so I shopped around, brought several dresses and changed my mind till I decided on this maxi skirt from Tram. Then I did the same with tops, I bought a couple and in different colours too, before finally choosing this one from Decoy. The style of this top was perfect for what I wanted, although I wish there was a little more something to the texture, maybe a slightly transparent layer on top or something, but then I can’t have it all and I was happy enough with the style.

The hair is from Fashionably Dead at Hair Fair and again I love the style. The loose, natural waves are just perfect, I don’t happen to think that the rigging is the best around, since it would stick into me during certain poses but the textures and mesh itself are well created. A little bit of it did end up sticking through the frill on the top, but I liked it so much that I decided to live with that, but I have edited it a bit for the pictures.

I’ve mentioned the man before in a couple of posts and it was probably about time that I posted a picture so today is appropriate.  We went over to Neva River and snapped a couple of shots in our outfits today and here we are! All hitched and stuff.

I’m really trying not to get all gushy on here but I just wanna say…thank you Khal. You make me happy.

Guess what I did today? Shopping! Just to add a little bit more clutter to that ever growing inventory. I’ve been getting lots of tips though so thanks for those, I’ll get round to doing something soon I’m sure!

This is a new release hair from Lamb at Hair Fari, which you can find located on the Flower sim, and here’s the SLURL. As you’ve probably noticed from my posts, I don’t usually change my hair colour, instead just wearing different shades of brown and I think that comes down to the continuity I kept for my role play character over all those years in SL. However! When I buy Lamb hair, I usually go for the ombre shades as it makes a nice change, but when I was trying this hair demo on and I accidently clicked the Milk colour demo, I decided that I actually really liked it. I umm’d and ahh’d over it the last couple of days because I wasn’t sure if I’d ever wear it, but when I started putting this outfit together this morning, I knew it’d be perfect.

I love this new mesh tank from Toki Doki. It’s out for the new round of Stumblebum and comes in a huge range of colours.  It really is versatile and you could wear it with pretty much anything. I didn’t want to go down the jeans and tank route today but with the textures and detail on the back (which you can’t see here but go try the demo coz it’s cute) it’s so easy to glam up as well.
