Some New Stuff and Some Rambling

So in the post I made last night, I admitted to some slackness on my part when it came to my blog. I think I’ve been feeling a lack of inspiration lately and there’s probably a lot of things that contributed to it, but basically my get up and go got up and went.

There have been some really nice releases lately, but nothing that stood out and screamed to me that I needed to blog it, even though I would have 2 months ago, it’s like I’ve just been in one of those meh moods. I’ve even been down about not having shadows!

I had shadows a few months ago, but it made my pc really slow when I turned them on and it took about 30 seconds waiting for the picture to refresh and then another 30 seconds to save it and well, I’m just impatient and 30 seconds was clearly too long. So I complained and then a couple of months ago I got my upgraded pc. Better processor, better graphics card, SL runs faster, no lag but also no shadows. See how that works? No neither do I really, but it did. I’ve tried everything and I think the only thing that’s gonna solve it is a new graphics card, so until then I have to make do with no shadows on location shots (I lasted approximately half a second in Lula when I turned them on) and shadows for a few minutes if I take pics in my studio.

So long story short-ish, I’ve just been bleh about pretty much everything. Then today I saw this top from Tram on Moca Loup’s Flickr stream and it was like it called to me and I had to run out and get it and blog it right away! I think I’m finding my mojo again

I did make a booboo here though, because when I finished editing I realised that I hadn’t used a pose that would show off the bat wing sleeves on the sweater, but they are there and it’s super cute and cosy, definitely worth buying for the cooler season!

Just a snap of me and my buddy Harper, we got each others backs! Mess with her and I will cut a bish! You will feel my WRATH (gotta use caps for that or the full effect doesn’t work) raining down on you like a hell fire!!! I’m like a lioness disguised as a kitten and I will do ANYTHING (caps again) to protect those closest to me!! etc etc.

Innocence

I’d pretty much expect anyone from SL who reads this blog to know what Flickr is, and to probably at least browse it from time to time. A lot of other bloggers do of course and for me, I know I can spend hours getting lost looking at all the amazing pictures and wondering if I could ever make something so fantastic. My friend Harper over at Pixel Pantomime does the same thing and recently she started a practice project to help improve her skills and I thought it was a good idea so obviously I completely copied her and now want to do a similar thing. So anyway, probably a lot of my pictures over the next few weeks are going to be quite experimental as I try to learn new things and hopefully you’ll be able to see some improvement with me!

This was my first kind of practice picture and I kept it simple with the gorgeous Lilith skin from Glam Affair that was available for September’s round of Collabor88, and this fabulous new flyaway hair from Truth.

I wanted to take an end of summer of shot and with the Mon Tissu competition ending in a couple of days I decided to do both at once, especially since Mon Tissu makes it so easy to put an outfit together!

Lady In Black

Some more new goodies released just in time for the weekend, yay \o/

I don’t do glam very often, as you probably know if you read this blog regularly but when I popped over to Euphoria for their fornightly Limited Bazaar event, I could not resist this mesh trench coat from Gizza. It’s only 150Ls and comes with a scarf that fits perfectly in with the coat. If you haven’t visited Limited Bazaar before it’s a must. All the items for sale there are limited (hence the name) so you need to snap up this jacket before they sell out!

Another new item is this adorable hair from Truth. It’s non rigged mesh so that means you can modify the shape better to fit, but also that you get the great high def textures that comes with mesh items. It was love at first sight for me and it’s a perfect style that you can wear whether you’re dressing up or down. I know I’m gonna be wearing it all weekend!

Monday Morning

I love cardigans. Give me a couple of new cardigans every week and I’ll be the happiest girl on the planet. So when Milk Motion released this classic cardigan for C88 I of course snapped it up. The texture is a little blurry, I don’t know if that was just me or not, I relogged a bunch of times and tried rebaking and refreshing texture etc but it was still the same. This doesn’t put me off loving it though, a nicely styled mesh cardigan will always make my day and this is another one for me to add to my “go to” list.

Another new C88 release is this necklace from Maxi Gossamer. I’ve got a thing about long necklaces lately, this one comes in 3 lengths and right away I put the long version on, but I love that Maxi usually gives a couple of different options for you.

Also, I’m so into this new mesh release from Truth! The casual, wavy style is just yum on toast as far as I’m concerned and this is something I don’t wanna take off for a while.

Finally, if you like this background in the picture then you have to check out the Four Walls hunt! You can find more info on their blog here including all the SLURLs and hints to the stores, but basically it’s a hunt around a bunch of furniture stores and each item costs 10Ls. There’s a bunch of great items on this hunt and this picture was taken in one of my favourites which was the hunt gift from L&K Prefabs. The hunt ends on the 15th of September so only a few more days to get out and grab these items!

Timeless – September C88

C88 time of the month rolled around already and I picked some of my favourites for this look! As usual there was a lot to choose from and my inventory got that little bit fuller with “Timeless” items, which was the theme for this round.

Fashionably Dead released 6 amazing hairs, and this one the “Timeless Hipster” includes the hat so you don’t have to worry about fitting that. I tend to find that’s a problem with a lot of hats in SL unless they’re included in the hair. I usually end up wearing non mesh hair and editing it to jfkdajcça so the hat will fit, but because this is included there’s no need to worry about that!

You can also find these mesh trousers from The Sea Hole, which I adore, as well as this blazer from House of Fox. Both are available in tons of colours and fit right in with the Timeless theme, styles that will never go out.

I also wanted to mention the top I’m wearing from Kyoot. It’s not anything new but as we know it’s a bit of a problem getting mesh to layer, if you want to wear a jacket or something and Kyoot is one of my favourite places to get system layer clothing to wear under mesh.
